John Darrohn Obituary

John R. Darrohn, 74, a lifelong resident of Nazareth and a man of gentle spirit and keen intellect, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at St. Luke's Hospital - Anderson Campus in Easton, the same town where his story began on January 12, 1951.
Born to the late Samuel and Edith Ackerman Darrohn, John grew up in Nazareth, where his sharp mind and warm demeanor were evident from a young age. He was a proud graduate of Nazareth High School, where he began to shape his future. John's thirst for knowledge led him to further his education at Penn State University, followed by graduate work at Lehigh University. These achievements laid the foundation for a long and successful career.
John's analytical skills were greatly valued, he was respected for the ability to approach complex problems with ease, insight and organization and to get the job done. For several decades, John was a dedicated employee at Genon Energy Systems, until retirement.
His interests were as varied as they were deep. John was a man who could lose himself in the vast world of YouTube videos, absorbing information and on a myriad of topics. His intellectual curiosity was matched only by his ability to retain and recall facts, making him an unbeatable opponent at Trivial Pursuit. His family and friends will fondly remember the joy and laughter during game nights, where John's brilliance always shone through – he always won!
A lover of simple pleasures, John enjoyed the camaraderie of poker games with friends or taking late night strolls with a Baccarat cigar in hand. He enjoyed spending time with others and cherished moments of solitude and quiet reflection.
John's presence was a gift to those around him, and his absence will be deeply felt. He is survived by his brother, Samuel Darrohn, and his wife Ellie of Allentown; his nephews, Christopher Darrohn of Eagle, Colorado, and Michael (Angela) Darrohn of Allentown. Each of them carries forward heartfelt memories and loving thoughts of John. He was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Fisher, with whom he now shares a peaceful rest.
Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing Monday evening, October 6, from 6-8 pm in the Schmidt Funeral Home, PC, 407 Belvidere St. Nazareth and Tuesday, October 7, from 10-11am. A Prayer Service, with Fr. Remy Coly, MSC presiding, will be held Tuesday at 11am in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Nazareth.
