John James "Jack" Dascher, Jr., MD, formerly of Lansdale, Pa passed away peacefully on October 15, 2024 at the age of 83. Born January 8, 1941 to the late John James, Sr. and Elizabeth (nee Simon) Dascher, John was the beloved husband of the late Carol (nee Ferguson) Dascher; loving father of Carolyn Dascher Corr (John) and John F. Dascher (Helle); cherished grandfather of Anders, Soren, and Kristian; dear brother of Alice Clark (Bill) and the late Kenneth Dascher (Arlene); and loving Uncle of many nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and nephews.
Jack graduated from Lincoln High School in Philadelphia in 1958, and was listed among the "Who's Who" of high school students. He began his higher education at Lycoming College, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1965. After graduation, he returned to Philadelphia and married his Methodist church youth group sweetheart Carol in August of 1966. Carol worked to support them while Jack studied medicine at Temple University, graduating in 1969. He served his medical residency at Reading Hospital focusing on radiology, which he completed in 1973. During his time at Reading his daughter Carolyn was born in 1970, followed by his son John in 1972. The family moved to Audubon, Pa in June of that year as Jack began his medical career as Associate Chief of Radiology at Sacred Heart Hospital in
Norristown, Pa. Jack was a highly respected member of the medical community, with many of his patients affectionately referring to him as "The Good Doctor". When Sacred Heart closed in 1994, he moved on to Episcopal Hospital in Philadelphia for two years before retiring in 1996.
Jack enjoyed spending time with his family, especially at the family home in Ocean City, NJ in the summertime. He devoted himself to taking care of his wife Carol after her health started to decline in the late 1990s. He was always there for his family, through good times and bad, all the way up to his passing. He enjoyed playing Pinochle throughout his life, playing in two card groups at Brittany Pointe Estates in Lansdale, Pa., the place he called home for 14 years. He was always appreciative of the staff who cared for him, making them laugh and earning their love and respect. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him, remembering his intelligence, sense of humor, and his kindness.
