John David "Moose" Morris, 58, of Whiteville, departed this life Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Baptist Hospital in Memphis.
He was born in Bolivar on Thursday, December 2, 1965 to the late William Edolan and Jimmie Ruth Hardee Morris and lived most all of his life in the Whiteville and Bolivar communities of Hardeman County. A 1983 graduate of Bolivar Central High School, he married Stacey Crutcher on November 5, 2000.
"Moose" had worked as a truck driver for Tony Hooper for the past two years. He also formerly worked for Russell DeBerry's D & M Trucking. He served as a boat pilot for 16 years with Pilot Thomas Logistics.
Mr. Morris was very active serving his community as a first responder, Whiteville firefighter for 23 years and the Hardeman County Rescue Squad for 28 years. He was an instructor in vehicle extraction, Vanessa Kay Free Emergency Services Training, EVOC, CPR and First Aid. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, boating, four-wheeling and Florida Gators football.
He leaves his wife of 23 years, Stacey Morris of Whiteville; three daughters, Deena Morris of Humboldt, Jennifer (Jake) Morris of Knoxville and Jalynn Morris of Whiteville; one son, William Morris of Whiteville; three grandchildren, Aria, Griffin and Bridget; and a brother, Milton Ray Morris of Bolivar.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a half-sister, Mildred Faye Morris.
Memorials may be sent to the Dementia Society of America.
