As I was talking to a friend preparing to write this, he said, "when I hear the name John Davis, I just smile". I think we all feel like this. John had the special ability to make everyone around him feel good. It didn't matter whether you have known him your entire life or had just met him.
John Leslie Davis was born May 26th, 1962 in Hanford. John grew up in Avenal and graduated a proud Buccaneer from Avenal High in 1980. He is survived by his mother Darlene, brother Carl, sister Kim, brother-in-law John, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He loved his family and friends deeply and nourished those relationships with laughter and love. John never had children, but treated his nieces and nephews as his own and loved them very much.
John joined the US Army in 1983 and his knowledge, skill, leadership, and personality served him well throughout his career, retiring at the well respected and earned rank of E7 Sergeant. First Class. He was first class. First class son, brother, uncle, cousin, soldier, mentor, and friend.
He was fortunate to work with Sikorsky Helicopters and travel the world in their employ, spreading his knowledge and giant personality to all corners of the earth.
John's life would be a great script for a movie. Part action adventure, part military, part romance, part drama, and definitely part comedy. Sit back, think of John and write your own scene in your mind.
The military honors funeral for John L. Davis will be held September 21st at the Lemoore Cemetery.1411 N. Lemoore Ave. in Lemoore starting at 10:30 AM.
A Celebration of Life reception will be held immediately following at Lemoore Trinity Hall 470 Champion Street, Lemoore.
The world is a sadder place today without him, but Heaven just got a lot more fun.
