John Davis Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Revels Funeral Home - Lumberton on Jan. 12, 2026.
"Ride Easy In The Saddle"

Papa Bear

John Davis went home to be with the Lord. He loved talking to people and offering encouragement and laughter to them. He loved being in nature, swimming at the beach and many fun summers spent at the lake. He enjoyed horticulture and creating fountains for yards and gardens. He loved to sing and enjoyed watching John Wayne movies.

John is preceded in death by his mother, Lena Davis, father, Roland Davis, four sisters, Shelby Donavan, Mary Lou Thompson, Josephine Pittman, and Doris Canter, and one brother, Jimmy Davis.

He is survived by his wife, Laura Davis, a daughter, Dawn Davis and three beautiful sisters, Debbie Jackson, Wanda Dowless, and Janice Davis (Buddy Davis), three sister-in-laws, and all who were with him in his final days as well as many nieces and nephews he loved.

John enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed in San Antonio, Texas, Korea and Minnesota and everyday looked forward to coming home to marry his sweetheart Laura. They got married in 1970 and had a baby girl, Dawn and moved to Southern Pines, NC. He received a two-year degree at Sandhills Community College and would later start his own landscaping business that he thrived at until he retired. He and the family enjoyed the hikes, fishing and playing tennis at the Sandhills College together. John and Laura were married 55 years this past September. He loved the Lord and tried to be an encouragement to others. We love him and will miss him greatly.

John passed away peacefully at Angel House Hospice in Whiteville, NC. A very special heartfelt thanks to our wonderful Gentiva Hospice team that he loved and a very special heartfelt thanks to the wonderful nurses and social worker with Lower Cape Fear Hospice that helped us during our hardest time. We offer a special thanks to all the nurses' aides and staff at Angel House in Whiteville for all their love, support and assistance during his final days.
