John C. September 27, 2025. Beloved husband, predeceased by his wife Rita (Del Vecchio) leaving behind his devoted wife Yvonne (Giorgio). Loving father and survived by John T. (Megan), Jessica (Andrew) Tosto, Jamie (Wade) Gerhardt, Joshua (Ashley), Julia (Nate) Reed, and Gianna. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren; Audrey, Aurora, Basil, Desmond, Mason, Forest, Elliot, Scout, and baby Gerhardt who is due in October. Also survived by his sister Theresa, his brothers Nicholas (Linda), Joseph (Pat), and the late Anthony. His mother-in-law Eleanor, sisters-in-law Patricia and Linda (Harry), and brother-in-law Paul (Katie). Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, especially his lifelong best friend, Joseph Burke. He is predeceased by his parents, Anthony and Josephine (nee Heller) DeLong, his brother Anthony and sisters-in-law Bernadette, Florence, and Jodi.

John was a longtime resident of Winchester Park and South Philadelphia. He was a distinguished member of the Presidential Honor Guard in the United States Navy. He graduated with bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Penn and Temple. John retired from UPenn after 25 years as senior director of Financial Aid. John enjoyed cruising, hunting, DIY projects, and going to the shore. He passionately supported Tunnels to Towers, Wounded Warriors, Disabled Veterans, and St. Jude's among others.

Relatives and friends are invited to his VIEWING FRIDAY EVENING October 3, 2025 7pm to 9pm at THE MONTI RAGO FUNERAL HOME 2531-35 S. Broad St., Philadelphia, PA 19148 and SATURDAY MORNING October 4, 2025 from 930am to 1030am at St. Monica Church, 17th and Ritner Sts. Followed by his funeral mass at 1030am. Int. Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that's contributions be made to either Tunnels to Towers, Wounded Warriors, Disabled Veterans, or St. Jude's Research Hospital.
