John H. Derfler

John H. Derfler of Norristown, passed away peacefully on Wednesday February 15, 2023. He was 94 years old. Born January 1, 1929 in Norristown, he was the son of the late John H. Derfler and Edith (nee Lawrence) Derfler, and the beloved husband of late Joan (nee Dearolf) with whom he spent over 50 years of marriage.
John was a US Army veteran, served during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany. He was a talented wood worker and worked at Moser Bros. in Bridgeport for many years. After retiring from Moser's, John worked at the ACME in the bakery dept. John enjoyed Phillies and Eagles games and dining out, especially at Flanagan's and also, trips to Shady Maple. Above all else, he cherished being a grandfather to the light of his life Brooke.
John is survived by his two sons; John "Jack" Derfler (fiancé Colleen), and David Derfler, and two grandchildren; Brooke Derfler and David Derfler, Jr., his sister Roseann Clower and brother Kenny Coull. He was preceded in death by his brother Donald, three sisters; Beverly Ryan, Edith Giuliano, and Dolores Weiger, and his daughter-in-law Amy Derfler.
Relatives and friends are invited to share in John's Life Celebration on Thursday February 23, from 9 AM to 9:50 AM at St. Patrick's Church 714 Dekalb St. Norristown. His Memorial Mass will be celebrated ta 10 AM at the church. Inurnment will be in St. Patrick's Mausoleum. Family services are by Boyd-Horrox-Givnish of East Norriton, 610-277-7000.
