Adele A. Fryer

Adele A. Fryer (nee Detweiler) of Norristown, passed away peacefully on Thursday February 12, 2026, with family by her side. She was 92 years old. Born July 16, 1933 in Souderton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Warren and Margaret (nee Auchy) Detweiler, and the beloved wife of Samuel Fryer, Jr. with whom she shared 73 years of marriage.

Adele was a very active and long-time member of the Reformed Church of the Ascension United Church of Christ, since 1952. She found her greatest joy in caring for others, especially through her baking. She delighted family and friends with homemade pies, cakes, cinnamon rolls, and her famous mints, always made with love. She enjoyed going for long walks, often making her way to the Norristown Public Library, where she first volunteered and later became a dedicated staff member A devoted fan, she also loved cheering on the Temple Owls. Adele, along with her children, were actively involved in the Elmwood Park Zoo Recycling Program. She will be remembered as a loving, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

She shared a devoted marriage with her beloved husband, Samual, and was preceded in death by her dear sister, Dottie Emsley. She is survived by her brother, Lane Detweiler, and by her three children: S. Lee Fryer (Sandra), Debra Sickles (late Gary), and Richard S. Fryer (Laurie). She was a proud grandmother to Kelly Snyder (Jason), Katie Elmer (Anthony), Cory Fryer (Kashia Perry), Zach Fryer and Luke Fryer, and a loving great-grandmother to Jacob and Chelsea Snyder.

Relatives and friends are invited to share in Adele's Life Celebration on Friday, February 20, from 9:30 AM to 10:20 AM at Boyd-Horrox-Givnish of East Norriton, 200 West Germantown Pike, 610-277-7000. Her Memorial Service will begin at 10:30 AM at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at George Washington Memorial Park. Optional luncheon at Panache Wood Fire Grill 602 Skippack Pike, Blue Bell at noon. In lieu of flowers, donations in Adele's name can be made to Montgomery County- Norristown Public Library.
