John Dickhaus Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Frederick Funeral Home on Sep. 25, 2025.
In Loving memory of John F. Dickhaus Sr., who was born in Cincinnati, OH on December 18, 1930 and was beloved son of the late Joseph H. Dickhaus and late Marie Dickhaus. John passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at the age of 94 surrounded by his loving family. He was a beacon of kindness and humor, whose spirit illuminated the lives of all who had the honor of knowing him.

John is now reunited in heaven with his wife, the late Janet M. Dickhaus. Together they created a loving and nurturing home for their children, John (Rhonda) Dickhaus, Mike (Jeanette) Dickhaus, Greg (Norma Jean) Dickhaus, Denise (Rose Zix) Dickhaus, Martin (Ellen) Dickhaus, late Tim (Robin) Dickhaus, and late Joseph Dickhaus. He was a proud grandfather of John III, Erika (Scott), Josh (Jess), Amanda, Mikie, Matt (Megan), Marc, Chelsea (Eddie), Timothy, Rachel, Christy (JC), Greg II, Eric (Carrie), Sarah and Kellen. Loving great grandfather of 33 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Dear brother of late Bill Dickhaus, late Ruth Arand, late Rosemary Ficker, late Bob Dickhaus and late Rita Miller. His family and friends will forever hold a special place for him in their hearts, finding comfort in the countless memories filled with laughter and warmth.

John's life was marked by notable accomplishments and deep-rooted commitments. He dedicated 37 years to Ford Motor Company in Sharonville, contributing significantly to the automotive industry. A proud veteran, John was drafted into the Navy and transferred to the Marines, where he served as a medic during the Korean War and received the Purple Heart for his bravery. His military service was a testament to his character and commitment to his country.

Outside of work and service, John found joy in the simpler pleasures of life. He was an avid bowler, often seen at Colerain Bowl during winter months, enjoying camaraderie the game brought and expressing his competitive spirit. His love of gardening brought beauty into his home, and he found joy in dancing with family and friends. Most importantly, John was the heart of his family, he was the glue that held them together, always bringing joy, laughter, and love into every gathering.

In honor of John's legacy, funeral services will be held on Monday, October 6, 2025, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, located at 5361 Dry Ridge Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45252. Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 p.m. Friends and family are invited to celebrate his life and share in the memories that bring us together. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in John's name to Honor Flight, 608 W 2nd, Ste 309, Spokane, WA 99201-4430, the Down Syndrome Association, 1155 15th Street NW, Suite 540, Washington, DC 20005, or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.

As we reflect on John's remarkable life, let us cherish the countless stories filled with love and laughter that he shared with us. His kindness, humor, and selflessness leaves behind a legacy of love that will endure in the hearts of his family and friends, forever reminding us to appreciate the gift of time spent together.
