Of Lewiston, NY, passed away at his home under the care of his family and Niagara Hospice. He was born in Niagara Falls, NY, the first son of the late William and Agnes (Dowling) Dooher. Mr. Dooher was a graduate of St. Mary's High School and attended Niagara University on an academic scholarship, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry. He served with the US Navy in Pensacola, FL and Panama, after graduating from college. Mr. Dooher had been employed by Bell Aircraft, Xerox, and as a computer analyst with RCA and General Electric in Cherry Hill, NJ, for 22 years before retiring in 1989. He moved back to the Lewiston area in 1999. Mr. Dooher was an avid golfer and member of Niagara Frontier Golf Club. His abilities included shooting six Holes-in-One. John, with brothers James and George, hosted a family golf tournament for over 25 years, that eventually included three generations of Dooher family members and many friends. He was the husband of the late JoAnn [Connery] Dooher, who passed away in 1989. Mr. Dooher is survived by his wife of 26 years Anne [McConnaghy] Roche Dooher; children John (Diane), Daniel, Francis (Laurie) Dooher, and Mary (Henry Kahwaty, Jr.) Dooher; step children Susan (James) Hunter, Mary Esther (Pamela Hamilton) O'Reilly, Lenore (John) McDonald, and Elizabeth (Jerry) Canada; sisters Elizabeth (Thomas) DiCamillo, Mary Ellen (James) Piotrzkowski; a sister-in-law Annette Dooher; also 13 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Timothy Dooher, step-father of the late Timothy Roche, brother of the late Peter, James, George (Ellen) Dooher and Kathleen (Gerald) Doyle. His family will be present on Friday, May 2, 2025 from 10-11 AM at St. Mary of the Cataract Church, 237 4th Street, Niagara Falls, NY, followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Stewart M. Lindsay, OSFS officiating. Memorials may be made in his name to the Niagara University Novena Office. Inurnment in Calvary Cemetery, Cherry Hill, NJ.
