Mr. John Edward Duncan, Jr., age 66, husband of Katie Clark Duncan of 65 Pelican Harbor Spur, Cross Hill, South Carolina, passed away Friday, June 13, 2025 at his home.
Mr. Duncan was born in Union, South Carolina, November 24, 1958, a son of the late John Edward Duncan, Sr. and Clorise Lawson Duncan. He worked for years in the textile industry but at the end of his career, he said that he was a miner, working with vermiculite at WR Grace Co. Mr. Duncan was a Master Mason, a member of Duncan Lodge 256, Buffalo. He was a graduate of Union Academy and completed certifications in welding, electrical, and as a millwright at Spartanburg Technical College (now SCC). Mr. Duncan attended Chappells Baptist Church, Chappells, SC. He loved to fish, coon and deer hunt, his dogs especially "Tang" and was CB enthusiast with his handle "Bushwacker".
Surviving in addition to his wife, Katie, are sons, Michael Lee Duncan and his wife Brooke of Union, Terry Wayne Smith, Jr (Celest) also of Union and Johnny Logan Duncan (Iabella) of Piedmont. Mr. Duncan is also survived by grandchildren, Alexys Cope (Justin), Ashley Duncan, Araina Duncan, Michael Duncan, Aneisa Smith, Ryleigh Smith, Jamey Smith, Reese Smith, Nellie Smith, Charlotte Duncan, and Delcan Duncan. He is survived by brothers, Joey Duncan and his wife Debby, John Duncan III and a sister Joni Wilson and her husband Joey; brothers-in-law, Dale Clark, and Richard Clark; sisters-in-law, Lea Anne Hughes and Shelly Clark and his father-in-law Bobby Clark. Mr. Duncan is also leaves behind a number of nieces and nephews and his faithful canine companion, "Doodlebug". He was predeceased by a son, Jonathon Edward Duncan and a daughter, Ashley Marie Duncan.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, June 16, 2025, at S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel, Union, SC conducted by Rev. James Rodgers with burial to follow in Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery, Buffalo. The family will receive friends, Sunday, June 15, 2025, at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
Active pallbearers will be Johnny Duncan, Terry Smith, Jimmy Estes, Steve Campbell,, Jeff Wright and Joey Duncan.
The family will be at their respective homes.
