John (Jack ) Joseph Durnin, a finance wizard and resident of Summit, NJ and Waxhaw, NC died

Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at the age of 85.

Jack is survived by his devoted wife Vietta Durnin, his son Steven Durnin, his daughter Lauren

Durnin, his daughter-in-law Dawn Becker-Durnin, and his three grandchildren Sidney Durnin,

Ashton Durnin, and Charles Durnin-Perez.

Jack was born September 11, 1939 in Brooklyn NY to Mary Cuddeback and Francis Durnin. He is

predeceased by his two sisters Lila Heidstra and Rosemary Neuser. He attended NYU and

achieved and MBA in finance. He religiously followed the stock market and was always available

to give and receive advice. Jack and Vietta married on November 28, 1970 in Brooklyn NY. His

favorite spot, later in life, was in the hot tub relaxing with Vietta.

Jack was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He traveled extensively both domestically

and internationally with his wife as well as for his career throughout his life. He enjoyed

concerts and movies with his son and grandsons. He was often heard singing songs around the

house to his wife and daughter.

Jack will be remembered not only for his brilliance in finance but also for his humor, warmth,

and unwavering love for his family. His legacy lives on in the values he instilled, the memories

he created, and the many lives he touched.

As Jack was a simple man he asked that in lieu of any services people make a donation in his
