John Robert Ed, 78, of Alexandria, Minnesota, passed away on October 3rd, 2025.
He was born on June 18th, 1947, in St. Paul, Minnesota, to his late parents Robert and Marian. John is survived by his wife of 51 years, Kathy Ed (Wiering), sister Kayleen, brother Jim (Julie), his daughters Paula, Nicole (Doug), and Morgan (Chris), and his son, Robert (Teresa), and grandchildren Allysa, Chandler, Ellie, Chay, Juniper, and Olive.
John grew up in St. Paul, Minnesota playing hockey and other sports. He served in the National Guard while working at Hart Ski for multiple years. After marrying Kathy they moved to Alexandria, Minnesota where they worked for thirty years. He was a crane and drill press operator at Standard Iron prior to retiring in 2012. For nearly 50 years, John lived on Lake Ida, where he cultivated his lifelong passion for fishing and raised a family. He most enjoyed ice fishing and summer fishing, watching Minnesota collegiate and professional sports, playing poker, and most importantly, spending time with his family and friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, October 8th, at 10:30 a.m. at Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria, Minnesota, with a brief service at 11:30 and lunch to follow. The Ed family warmly invites you to share your stories and celebrate his life together.
