John A. Erwin Sr., age 69, passed away at home on November 15, 2025. John was born on August 20, 1956, in Marion, Ohio to the late William and Grace “Shuler” Erwin. John was preceded in death by his parents, the mother of his children and lifelong friend Debra S. Erwin, brothers, Ed Erwin, Jim Erwin, Dick Erwin, and Ted Erwin.
John is survived by daughter Shiela Mallott (George Blanton), son John Erwin Jr. (Teri), brothers Steve Erwin (Val), Clarence Erwin, Sister Evelyn Hook, special niece and caregiver Pamela Erwin, 9 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. John was a U.S. Army Veteran who other than a short stay in Florida lived his entire life here in his beloved Ohio with family. John spent many years as “Nanny” to his beloved nephews Dustin and Brandon Brown and then many years as a roofer. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. He most loved time at the family cabin in Michigan and morel mushroom hunting season. John will be missed dearly by all that knew him.
There will be no services per the families request. Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s's Children's Hospital in his name. Moments of remembrance may be left online at www.cremationservicesofohio.com.
