John A. Esteb, 76. Passed away in his home in Elmway near Okanogan on September 23. 2025.John was born September 9, 1949, to Edwin E. Esteb and Armenta B. (Barker) Esteb.
John attended Okanogan HIgh School and graduated in 1968. After graduation John attended Oregon Technical Institute in Klamath Falls, Oregon and later Columbia Basin College in Pasco. John's college studies were cut short when his Father Ed died and John had to return home.
John showed a great talent in the field of electronics. At a young age he was repairing televisions for customers in the Okanogan and Omak area. He helped to maintain the Television Translators on Omak Mountain that provided television service to the Okanogan Valley.
Unfortunately in 1972 John was injured in a private plane crash near Mount Rainier. He suffered head trauma and was in a coma for three weeks. After he came out of the coma he had to relearn how to walk. He would suffer from delibrating headaches for the remainder of his life.
John was a member of the Okanogan Eagles Lodge, and attended the Espicapal Church in Okanogan with his parents and grandparents ( Pete and Eva Barker).
John is survived by cousins Nancy Esteb of Sequim, Wa.,Sally Cureton of Reno, Nevada, Boyd B Bailey of Corona Del Mar, Calif., William J Barker of Spokane Wa., and their families.
Informal burial of his ashes will be on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 3:00 pm next to his mother Armenta at the Okanogan Valley Memorial Gardens.

I just read the obituary on 10/11/2025 and am deeply shocked as nobody told my wife or me of his passing. He was like a brother to me as young men and was the best man at our wedding. I would love to have contact with his family and find who wrote the fine obituary.
