Wilda June Siemon

Wilda "Wid" June Siemon, 98, of Omak, was taken home to heaven on Saturday, September 27, 2025. Wid was born June 22, 1927, in Okanogan, along with her twin brother, William (Bill) Palmer to Velna and Frederick Ervin. Velna divorced Frederick and married Jess Palmer whom the twins referred to as their dad. Wid and Bill attended Okanogan Schools until their Sophomore year when they moved to Omak High School and graduated from there in 1945. Wid met Leland Siemon while attending Omak High School, they were later married in 1947. Wid and Leland had three children, Michael Leland Siemon, LeAnne (Siemon) Olson, and Gary Wayne Siemon. Gary was born with a blood disorder and passed shortly after birth. Wid spent her entire life living and working in the Omak/Okanogan area. Her positions were of clerical nature where she was able to interact with people, always trying to help in any way she could. Her places of employment included Bill and Marge Blundell Insurance, Ok Co Auditor's Office, Buck Golm Ford, and The State Highway, Dept of Transportation. Anyone needing a road permit was always happy to go see Wid, where they were met with a smile and friendly conversation as she processed their road permits. Wid had a gifted talent for whistling and singing. She shared her whistling (warbling) with our community through gatherings, events and even on our local radio KOMW. Not only could she whistle she could yodel with the best of them. Edna Mae Hinger and Wid provided weekly entertainment at the local rest homes where Edna Mae would play her accordion and sing while Wid would accompany her vocally or by whistling. Wid and Leland worked on their 100+ acre farm raising alfalfa hay, apples, and cattle. Leland did the outside work and Wid worked hard in the kitchen always providing home cooked meals for the family and any extra help that was hired during haying and apple picking. They also enjoyed deep sea fishing. They had a large cabin cruiser style boat that they took to Port Hardy, on the tip of Vancouver Island in Canada. Many summers they would travel up there and fish for salmon, sea bass and lingcod. All of which Wid would spend hours canning and preserving. Wid and Leland became very active in the Eastern Star and the Mason organizations strongly believed in the mission of The Order of Eastern Star; she moved through the Chairs of the organization and eventually became Worth Matron. This required a lot of travel to different communities to attend and participate in their events. She loved traveling to other communities, meeting new people, and of course, getting dressed up in formal gowns. Eventually Wid and Leland became snowbirds. Enjoying the warmer climates in Needles, California. They had a group of folks from our community that would travel down to Park Moabi where they stayed during the winter months. They shared lots of good times with these close friends. Wid was a very social person with a big smile and even larger laugh. She will be missed by all who knew her. Wid is survived by her son, Mike and daughter LeAnne, Grandson Ty Olson, and her great grandchildren, Jentri and Jesse Olson. Also surviving is her twin brother, Bill Palmer and his family. Wid was preceded in death by her husband, Leland Siemon in March of 2010. A celebration of life, for Wid, will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at The River Valley Funeral Chapel, 2547 Elmway St., Okanogan, WA 98840
