John Joseph Fahey

John Joseph Fahey of Neptune died peacefully at home surrounded by his devoted family on October 8, 2024. He is survived by his beloved wife Patsy of sixty-two years, son John Joseph Fahey III, daughter Sharon (nee Fahey) Butterfield, sons-in-law Robert Jenkens and David Butterfield, grandchildren Jack and Whitney Butterfield, and many other dear family and friends. He is predeceased by his parents, John & Margaret Fahey, his two sisters, Margaret (nee Fahey) Costello and Katherine (nee Fahey) Gallagher. He was the ultimate family man, who loved being a husband, father and "Poppy" to his wife, children and grandchildren. He loved nothing more than spending time with family. His children and grandchildren were his greatest joy and inherited his commitment to family, sense of humor, and love of reading.
John was born in Carteret, NJ. Upon completion of high school, he enlisted in the US Navy. He was proud of his service on board the USS Missouri. After his service in the Korean war, he graduated from St. Peter's College. He worked as an accountant and spent much of his career with the Internal Revenue Service. He lived the last twenty-three years of his life happily in the Villas at Jumping Brook enjoying the company of many wonderful friends and neighbors.
Visitation will be Sunday, October 13, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Ely Funeral Home, Neptune, NJ, and a funeral mass will be held Monday, October 14, at 11 a.m. at the Church of Saint Anselm, Tinton Falls, NJ. Interment is private.
