John Fambrough, age 74 of Breckenridge, passed away Thursday, May 5, 2022. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 14th at Necessity Baptist Church with John Kinman officiating. Services have been entrusted to Morehart Mortuary.
John Douglas Fambrough was born March 14, 1948 in Breckenridge, Texas to Douglas Fambrough and Elcy Willene Sullivan Fambrough. He grew up in Wickett, Texas and later graduated from Monahans High School in 1966. While in high school, John was in the Latin Club, played football and competed in track and was also a member of the National Honor Society. After graduation, he attended Texas A&M where he received his Bachelor and Master's degrees in Biology. John was a true Aggie to the very end. Briefly he taught school before going to work as an engineer for BJ Services and Areo Exploration and Production. He had the opportunity to travel to several interesting places, such as Alaska, Hong Kong and Dubai. John loved God and was a faithful member at Freeman Heights Baptist Church, Lake Pointe Church and Necessity Baptist Church. He taught Sunday school classes, was a deacon and served his church in several other capacities. John loved to hunt and fish and took many family trips to New Mexico and Colorado. He also enjoyed planning and taking long road trips. He was passionate about photography, his flowers, gardening, and wildlife, but most of all he loved his family. Mr. Fambrough was preceded in death by his parents, Douglas and Willene Fambrough.
Mr. Fambrough is survived by his wife, Betty Fambrough; siblings, Dixie Kirchmeier, Stephen Fambrough and wife Jan; stepchildren, Karen Lindsay, Chris Gulley and wife Susy; grandchildren, Nicholas, Carson and Cameron. John loved and was loved by many nieces, nephews and other extended family.
Memorials may be made to the Crossing Borders Ministries through Necessity Baptist Church and may be left at Morehart Mortuary. Condolences may be made online at www.morehartmortuary.net.
