John Raymond Farris, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on July 28, 2025, at the age of 75, due to natural causes. He passed peacefully at home surrounded by his family. Born on July 31, 1949, in Oswego, Kansas, John lived a life that was both rich in experiences and full of love, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him.

John was the oldest of five children born to Richard Farris and Mary Farris (Shelley). He grew up in a loving household that instilled in him the values of hard work, integrity, and the importance of family.

In 1969, John answered the nation’s call and served honorably in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. His service to his country was a testament to his courage and commitment, values he carried throughout his life. After returning home, John completed his education. He graduated from Pittsburg State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, setting the foundation for a successful career in manufactured storage tanks. He was known for his expertise and unwavering work ethic.

In 1995, John found love again when he married Kristen Forbes in Parsons, Kansas. Their marriage brought immense joy and companionship into his life, and together they created a nurturing environment for their family. John and Kristen shared over 30 years together in holy matrimony. Their love was infectious and their bond was an inspiration to those around them.

John is survived by his wife Kristen (Forbes) Farris and his four siblings Nancy (Dan) Castle, Debbie Brooks, Bill (Theresa) Farris, and Mark (Teri) Farris. He was a devoted family man, and he took immense pride in his role as a father to Mike (Megan) Farris, Chris (Krista) Farris, Katie (Seth) Painter, and Nick (Gabby) Farris. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Jessica Farris, Andrew Farris, Lauren Farris, Carlee Bunch, Brantlee Bunch, Brycen Farris, Corbin Farris, Kyndra Farris, Nora Painter, and the impending arrival of Baby Farris (Nick and Gabby). John cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren, sharing laughter and wisdom, and creating memories that will be treasured for generations.

As a man of faith, John was an active member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, where he found community and fellowship. His faith guided him in all aspects of life, providing him with strength and comfort.

John’s life will be celebrated in a funeral Mass at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church in Grove, Oklahoma at 10am August 15, 2025. Following the Mass, he will be buried at Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Parsons, Kansas. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor a remarkable man who touched the lives of so many with his kindness and generosity.

John Raymond Farris leaves behind a legacy of love, loyalty, and faith. He will be profoundly missed but will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends. As we reflect on his life, we remember his laughter, his wisdom, and his unwavering love for those he held dear.
