John Ferro, 93, passed away at home on November 2, 2025, in Palm Coast, Florida. Born on April 16, 1932, to John and Colomba Ferro in Jersey City, New Jersey, John was raised in Jersey City before moving to Morganville, New Jersey, and later retiring to Palm Coast, Florida.
John's life was marked by intellectual curiosity, and a deep, enduring love of his family. John will be remembered not only for his dedication to education, but for the creativity he nurtured, and the joy he found in everyday moments.
He received his B.A. and M.A. in History and Political Science from Seton Hall University, Bachelors Degrees in both Math and Physics. His curiosity knew no bounds - whether studying world events, exploring new ideas, or engaging others in thoughtful conversation, John's love of learning enriched everyone who knew him.
A lifelong educator and devoted family man, John dedicated his career to teaching, inspiring generations of students as a teacher at Hudson Catholic High School, Jersey City, Raritan High School, Hazlet, NJ and Professor at St. Peter's College, Jersey City. His passion for knowledge and his unwavering commitment to education inspired countless students over the years.
After his retirement, John found happiness in music and art. He loved to sing and paint, expressing his spirit through every brushstroke and melody. His zest for life was contagious, and he brought light and laughter to those around him.
John was preceded in death by his wife, Joan, with whom he shared 69 cherished years. He is survived by three children: daughter, Sharon Crippen and her husband, Robert; son, Robert and his wife, Tammy; and son, John, Jr.; sister, Rose Polito; six grandchildren: Nicole, Michael, Steven, Marc, Alexis, and Jennifer; and ten great-grandchildren. His wisdom, warmth, and gentle humor will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A funeral mass will be held Wednesday, December 10th at 10:00 AM at St. Dominic Church, Brick, NJ followed by interment at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Toms River, NJ.
