John Fetter Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cox-McNulty Funeral Home - Barberton on Dec. 9, 2025.
John Irvin Fetter went home to be with his Lord and Savior on November 29, 2025, at 93 years old.

He was born to May and Roy Fetter on September 25, 1932, in Orrville, Ohio.

He was a member of the Akron Baptist Temple and faithfully served in the bus ministry. He retired from Alside after 40 years as the traffic director.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline, and his son, Richard.

He is survived by his son Paul of Tennessee and daughter Julie of Tennessee; grandchildren Angela (Shawn) of Florida, Johnathan of Ohio, and Sarah (Shane) of Tennessee; great-grandchildren Andrew, Evan, Peyton, Dustin, Xavier, Asher, Kayson, Haven, and Sunday Pauline; and great-great grandson Silas.

Our Dad, Grandpa, and Poppy lit up every room or store he entered and always left with a new friend. He never met a stranger. He loved the Barberton Magics and attending football and basketball games with his son-in-law, Rick Roberts. He loved Oysters Rockefeller, the Florida beaches, and his 1963 Silvermink Blue Thunderbird Roadster-his beloved "thunder chicken."

His love for Barberton restaurants was unmatched: Belgrade's, Fa-Ray's, Sweet Henry's, and Wills, just to name a few. He loved traveling and seeing new places, always choosing the longer route if it meant new scenery. He loved the ocean and riding the waves in, frog legs, oysters on the half shell, raw garlic cloves, and sliced tomatoes.

He was truly one of a kind. There aren't words to express how thankful and fortunate we were to have him as a Father & Grandfather for 93 years. His laugh, his smile and sayings are etched in our memories forever .

His memory and legacy will live on through all of us-his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchild.

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16

A Visitation will be held Friday, December 12, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Cox-McNulty Funeral Home, 222 Norton Avenue, Barberton, Ohio, with the service to follow at 12:00 p.m. John will be laid to rest at Crown Hill Cemetery, in Orrville, Ohio.

"Be all you can be, and kick it up a notch."
