Dr. John Prebil Frederick

Dr. John Prebil Frederick, age 77, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2026.

John was born in Virginia, Minn., on March 9, 1948. He graduated from Virginia High School in 1966 and attended North Dakota State University. John graduated from NDSU with a degree in electrical engineering in 1970. John went on to medical school at the University of Minnesota and completed his residency at St. John's Hospital. John co-founded North Suburban Family Physicians, located in Shoreview, Minn., and the practice expanded to two additional sites in the north metro. John married fellow physician Deb Sandberg on January 2, 1982. After spending much of his early career in family practice, John transitioned to medical administration and worked at East Metropolitan Health Organization, North Memorial Hospital, and Preferred One.

John was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Joan.

He is survived by his loving wife, Deborah Sandberg, three children: Dana (Todd), Brigitte (Jay), and Andrew (Mee), eight grandchildren, and his brother, Sherman.

Memorial Service will be held at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Shoreview, Minn., on Friday, March 20, 2026, at 11 a.m. Visitation to be held before the service at the church, beginning at 10 a.m. Memorials can be directed to The Alzheimer's Association or Doctors Without Borders.
