John F. Gabrys

John F. Gabrys, 60, of Somonauk, IL, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2024 in Rock Island, IL. He was born January 2, 1964, in Joliet, IL, the son of Richard and Mary (Sweeney) Gabrys. He married Kelly Healy on August 6, 1994. John was a member of the Buck Lake Association, the Knights of Colombus, and PDGA (Professional Disc Golf Association). He was a past member of the Somonauk Band Boosters. John enjoyed fishing, cooking, disc golf and spending time with his family. John especially enjoyed attending all of his sons' sporting and musical events. Ever the caretaker, John was very kind and never hesitant to lend a hand.
He is survived by his wife, Kelly of Somonauk, IL; his sons, Noah Gabrys, Ethan Gabrys, and Maxwell Gabrys all of Somonauk, IL; his sister, Laurie Gabrys; his brother, Richard Gabrys; his mother-in-law, Patricia Healy; brothers-in-law, Shawn (Janis) Healy and Patrick (Tina) Healy; his niece, Jennifer; his nephews, Austin (Lauren), Nicholas, and Aiden; numerous extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Jane Gabrys, and his father-in-law, Robert Healy.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk. Funeral Services will be held following the visitation at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at the funeral home in Somonauk, IL, with Father Bernard Sehr officiating.
