John Gallagher Beloved Brother, Uncle, Partner, and Friend
John Gallagher passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of courage, individuality, and style that will never be forgotten. Born into a world that often lacked understanding, John chose to write his own story-boldly, unapologetically, and with flair.
At the age of 18, John made the life-changing decision to move to San Francisco-a city that not only embraced his identity but helped him blossom into the man we all came to know and love. He lived his truth with strength and grace, and in doing so, paved the way for others to do the same.
A hardworking man with a sharp eye for style and a taste for the finer things, John built a full life for himself on the West Coast. He loved a good cocktail party and a bustling tavern. After decades in California, he eventually made his way back east in the late 2000s, to live out the later stages of his life, bringing with him the sophistication and stories of a life richly lived.
Though he was never married, John shared a lifelong partnership with Craig Farinelli, who predeceased him. Their bond was one of true companionship and love.
John is survived by his devoted brother, Kevin Gallagher and wife Carol; his loving sisters, Linda Stamp and Patricia Ginolfi; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, all of whom cherished his sharp wit, kind heart, and fabulous flair. He also leaves behind countless friends from all walks of life who were drawn to his authenticity and charm. He was predeceased by his brothers, Eugene Gallagher and Michael Gallagher,
A die-hard sports fan, John held season tickets for his beloved San Francisco 49ers during their legendary dynasty years in the 1980s and early '90s. Sundays were sacred, and so were his traditions, whether at the stadium or gathered with friends to cheer on his team.
John had a way of walking into a room and making it feel like an event. He set trends without trying, spoke truth without fear, and lived a life that was uniquely, wonderfully his own. His presence will be deeply missed, but the stories, style, and spirit he brought into this world will live on in those lucky enough to have known him.
