John Coleman Garbison, 81, of Blue Ridge, MO, passed away on Friday, Oct. 20, 2023, at Crestview Home in Bethany, MO. John was born on September 11, 1942 in Milo, IA, the first son of Reverend Jake and Peggy Garbison.
John was a lover of the natural world with a keen interest in native cultural history, and his hours of activity and collecting reflected this love. He never saw a farm pond that didn't draw his attention. He studied natural history and often searched for artifacts. His knowledge of native cultures was extensive, and he spent countless hour talking, reading and trading. He was very generous with his knowledge and artifacts.
John is survived by his wife, Donna, of Blue Ridge, MO; his daughters, Deanna and her children, Monty and Lucas of Indianapolis, IN and Deb and her children, Abbott and Cecelia of Greenfield, MN. John is also survived by three siblings; brother, Jim Garbison of Rogers, AR, sisters Mary Taylor of Indianola, IA, and Martha Garbison of Denver, CO.
