John Philip Gardner passed away on January 4, 2025. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Kathleen Gardner, his parents, William, and Eleanor Gardner, and his two brothers, Earl and Richard Gardner.
John is survived by his sons, Jamie Gardner and Jedd Gardner, and his stepson, Walker Starner. He also leaves behind his two grandchildren, Zane and Ellie Gardner, who brought so much joy to his life. Additionally, he is survived by his special friend, Kate Packer, as well as his nieces and nephews: Kym, Greg, Rich, Christine, and Carolynn.
A lifelong resident of Vestal, John retired from the Town of Vestal Highway Department after 36 years of service.
He was an integral part of the Elks organization and a dedicated member of Vestal Lodge 2508. John served as a past New York State District Deputy and past Exalted Ruler. He spent countless hours volunteering in the kitchen and participating in many community functions through the Vestal Elks. He also thoroughly enjoyed his weekly breakfasts with Herb and Kathy Swan.
John loved the outdoors, especially summers on Oneida Lake, and was a passionate fan of the New York Yankees, New York Giants and the Penn State Nittany Lions.
A celebration of life will be held on March 1st at the Vestal Elks Lodge, beginning at 2:00 pm.
