John Gavitt Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Staton-Borowski Funeral Home on Jun. 14, 2022.
John Paul Gavitt of Niles, Ohio went home to Jesus on Friday afternoon, June 10, 2022. He was born Oct 22, 1947 in Hundred, WV, the son of the late Joseph L. and Helena Boyd Gavitt. He attended Champion schools.
John was a very dedicated employee at K-Mart for 31 years. He hardly ever missed a day and didn't hesitate to put in extra time. He also worked at his parents' business, the Evangelistic Bookstore and a store on Mahoning Ave, Purskeys, where he would ride his bike to work.
He was also a faithful member of Bazetta Baptist Church for many years and served as an usher. If you were ever with him in church, you knew how much he loved to sing! His church family was his extended family and he really loved being with them; especially the fellowship dinners!
He lived with his parents his entire life and after they passed, he shared a home with his brother, Jim, in Niles. During their six years together, Jim became a caregiver to John and the family is very appreciative for Jim and all of his efforts.
John loved his family and especially the family gatherings, where he was always the life of the party. He has a special love for all of his neices and nephews. He will be greatly missed and those family gatherings will not be the same.
John was survived by his brother, LeRoy (Vi) Gavitt of Warren, sister Joanna Rhoades of Washington, WV, brother James Gavitt of Niles, and numerous nieces, nephews and grand neices & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Rev. Stephen Rhoades.
Services will be at Bazetta Baptist Church at 1109 Perkins-Jones Rd NE in Warren at 5pm, June 15th, where Pastor Stanley C. Mink will officiate. Friends may call from 4pm-5pm.
Caring and Professional arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Staton-Borowski Funeral Home, 962 North Road, NE, Warren, Ohio 44483, 330-394-6200. Dedicated To Serving Your Loved Ones. This obituary may be viewed, and condolences sent to www.statonborowskifuneralhome.com.
