John LaWayne Gilbert

John Gilbert Jr. was born in San Antonio Texas on November 23, 1960 and passed away on February 21, 2026.

John was the fifth child of Bernice Gilbert and the second child of John Gilbert Sr., and was together with his wife Sylvia for many years. It can be said that his number one hobby was eating, but he also loved the great outdoors and enjoyed fishing and cooking. John was a very hard worker but anytime he could, he would promote get-togethers and family reunions. He was always available to his family and friends whom he was fiercely protective over.

John was preceded in death by his parents Bernice and John Gilbert Sr., his wife Sylvia, his siblings Diane Allen and Eurikie Gilbert Sr. and is survived by siblings Sherry Middleton and Arthur McKinley. He leaves behind those who will mourn his death including nieces Candace, Audrey, Cynthia, Sheryl, Sandra and Tamika and nephews John, Anthony, George, Eurikie Jr., Edmund, Christopher, Clifton, William, Omari and countless cousins and other relatives.
