John Neal Giles, 85, passed peacefully at home on November 13th, 2025, surrounded by family. Born on November 28, 1939, Neal lived his entire life in Heber City alongside the love of his life, Patricia Giles. Their deep love and unwavering faith in each other led them to be sealed for eternity in the Provo, Utah, LDS Temple, a blessing they cherished.
Neal achieved many notable accomplishments in his life, including graduating from Wasatch High School, serving an LDS mission in the East Central States, and receiving recognition for his expertise in rifle marksmanship and sharpshooting while serving in the Army. He went on to build a diverse and fulfilling career, from learning gunsmithing under the expert mentorship of Bliss Titus to working for the Forest Service, serving as a millwright at Geneva Steel, and finally crafting custom 4x4 parts as a highly skilled machinist.
Neal lived his life serving others, valuing friendships, cherishing family, and delivering one-liners like no other. His voice was loud, but it was his heartfelt love for others that truly stood out.
He leaves behind his devoted wife, Patricia Giles, and his children: Bonnie (John) Baucom, Shawn (Laurie) Roach, Troy Roach, Tim (Olga) Roach, Debra (Darryl) Johnson, and Mary Roach, as well as 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, who will forever carry his love. He is also survived by his beloved brothers Larry (Annette), Alan (Pam), and Mark (Helen) Giles. He joins his parents, Grant and Ethel Giles; his sister, Loye Giles; his son, Kent Roach; and his granddaughter, Christina Coddington, in the Lord’s care, with the promise of eternal reunion with his loved ones.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 325 E 500 N, Heber City, Utah 84032, beginning at 11:00 a.m. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Interment will follow at Provo City Cemetery.
