John Albert Glista, 80, of Johnstown, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2025. Born March 15, 1945, in Lilly, PA, he was the son of the late Maryann (Merso) and Stanley Michael Glista.

He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, David R. Somerville and Kathy R. Somerville.

John is survived by his devoted wife of 22 years, Susan (Somerville) Glista; sisters Mary, married to Paul Knepper Sr., of Mineral Point, and Carol Brancato of East Taylor; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and brothers-in-law who will deeply miss his kind presence.

A man of quiet strength, patience, and boundless love, John was a longtime member of St. John Gualbert Cathedral since 1985, where he faithfully served as an usher and assisted with maintenance over the years. He was also a beloved member of the Peer Empowerment Network Center, where his gentle spirit touched many lives.

John was a loving "cat dad" to his cherished Thunder, his loyal companion for 17 years.

Uncle John is sadly missed by so many of his family and everyone he met in life. He truly was a kind, caring soul. I have so many fond memories of him when I was younger at birthday parties, holidays, visiting with him and pap, and his laughter. As one person said, "...People will forget what you did, people will forget what you say, but people will never forget how you make them feel". I wish I could've lived closer to spend more time with Uncle John, but I'll never forget Uncle John in the good ol' days. He's definitely in heaven looking down on us. God bless him, Susan, and all the family.
