John Joseph Goch Jr., 72, of Commerce Twp., MI, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 23, 2024. Born in Detroit, MI, he was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. John moved to Commerce Twp. in 2005. He devoted 50 years of marriage to his beloved wife, Elizabeth A. Goch. They were active members of the Divine Child Church in Dearborn, MI, where they found hope, strength and peace.
John's professional career was marked by dedication and hard work. He began his career at ANR Pipeline Company, then moved on to AutoAlliance Mazda before spending over 25 years at Ford Motor Company. But beyond his work, John was a devoted family man. He loved coaching his son's soccer team and attending his grandchildren's sporting events. His adventurous spirit led him to explore the world, from skiing and scuba diving to hot air ballooning and cruising. An avid World War II history buff, John visited many historical sites, including Normandy Beach, Hiroshima, Vietnam, and South Korea. His love for learning and traveling took him to all seven continents, where he made lifelong friends along the way.
John also enjoyed beekeeping, spending countless hours tending to his hives and harvesting honey. In his free time, he could be found meticulously building intricate Hogwarts Lego sets or crafting detailed model ships. He loved the great outdoors and enjoyed camping under the stars, as well as honing his golf and racketball skills. His legacy will live on for generations, remembered as a kind, generous, and well-respected man who lived life to the fullest. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and adventure that will continue to inspire those who were lucky enough to know him. John Joseph Goch Jr. will be deeply missed but forever cherished.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Elizabeth A. Goch (Owsinski); his son, Adam (Sarah) Goch; his grandchildren, Benjamin Goch, Evan Goch, Lily Velthuysen and Lainey Velthuysen; his brother, David Goch and his son-in-law, Joseph Velthuysen.
John is preceded in death by his daughter, Erin M. Velthuysen; his sister, Loretta Goch and his parents, John and Virginia Goch.
