John O. Goebel, Sr. 84, of Wampum passed away Saturday, July 5, 2025, at Quality Life Services in New Castle following a lengthy illness.
Born February 17, 1941, in Ellwood City, he was the son of the late Gustive and Mabelle Lechner Goebel. He was married to Frances J. "Frannie" Mohr Goebel for 62 years. She passed away on March 13, 2023.
John graduated from Lincoln High School in 1960 and then worked as a crane operator at B&W in Koppel until his retirement. He was a member of the Chewton Christian Church. John enjoyed living and working on his family farm. He also loved working in his garage especially on farm equipment and cars. He was known for building shot guns. His most cherished moments were spent with family.
Survivors include two sons, John O. (Rose) Goebel Jr. and James R. (Jodi) Goebel both of Wampum; two granddaughters, Casey Jo Goebel, DVM and Jamie Lynn Goebel both of Wampum; grandson, Ricky (Kristin) Curry of Edinburg; great-granddaughter, Olivia Curry; three sisters, Suzanne Kruger of Wampum, Janice (Bill) Davis of Pulaski, and Sally Fitzgerald of Monaca and brother, Charles (Mary Lou) Goebel of Wampum.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sister Mary Elizabeth Hall.
Friends and family will be received on Tuesday July 8, 2025, from 4:00 pm until the Funeral Service at 7:00 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home, 341 Main Street Wampum. Dave Keppen will officiate. Interment will be in Pinewood Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lawrence County Fair. 464 Midway Rd. New Castle PA, 16101.
