John L. Golyar, age 94, passed away January 1, 2026.
John was born March 26, 1931 in Battle Creek to George and Mary (Buncic) Golyar. He graduated from Battle Creek Central High School and served honorably in the U.S. Air Force. He worked for 40 years at the Kellogg Company, retiring in 1993.
John married the former Virginia Daniels, who preceded him in death. John is survived by his son, Ronald (Teresa) Golyar; daughter-in-law, Katherine Golyar; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his son, Roger Golyar; daughter, Marcia Rench; brothers, Thomas Golyar and Phillip Golyar; sister, Sharon Smith and a special friend, Martha Young.
In his spare time, John enjoyed watching old western films. He was a talented carpenter and remodeled his own home, as well as helping his friends with their houses. When he was younger, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and trapping.
A graveside service to celebrate John’s life will be held 11:00 a.m. January 6, 2026 at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors Foundation or the VFW.
