It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John W. Goodyear, who left this world peacefully on August 27, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on July 19, 1941, in Indianapolis, IN, to the late John M. and Mary E. Goodyear, John led a life filled with love, adventure, and deep connections.
John dedicated over 50 years to the electrical construction industry, honing his skills first in Indianapolis before bringing his talents to Cincinnati in 1983. His professional journey was marked by an unwavering commitment to excellence and a genuine passion for his craft. In addition to his work, he devoted more than 30 years to St.James Episcopal Church, where his spirit of service touched the lives of many.
John thrived in the beauty of nature and cherished activities that brought family and friends together. He was an avid hiker, biker, and model railroading enthusiast. John loved exploring the outdoors and participating in community events, especially volunteering with Hamilton County Parks, where he made lasting friendships and memories.

In a beautiful twist of fate, John found love again at a single parents' outing, where he met Nancy. Their bond quickly grew into a partnership filled with love and purpose. On August 10, 1991, they united their lives and families, creating a nurturing home. Together, they shared countless adventures, including family get togethers, walking, camping, hiking and bike rides. All of these defined the loving legacy John leaves behind.
John is survived by his devoted wife, Nancy Goodyear; daughter, Kristen "Kristi" (Mike) Kenney; son, Richard (Carol) Goodyear; bonus children, Kimberly and Brian Wissman; beloved brother, Charles "Chuck" (Merrietta) Goodyear; and cherished grandchildren, Allison (David) Vanneman, Emily and Michael Kenney, Meagan Cyrus, Katie Goodyear, Luke and Greg Wissman.
John is preceded in death by his parents, John M. and Mary (nee Landis) Goodyear.
The family will receive friends to honor and celebrate John's remarkable life at St. James Episcopal Church, 3207 Montana Ave, Cincinnati, Ohio 45211, from 10am to 11am, on Tuesday, September 2, 2025. Services will follow at 11AM, at the church. Immediately following the service, the family invites you to join in a celebration of John's life at Pebble Creek Event Center, 9799 Prechtl Rd, Cincinnati, Ohio 45252. A private burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to The Salvation Army or St. Jude’s Hospital for Children, both causes close to John's heart. Memorials may be made the day of funeral with funeral home representative or directly with charities online.
In this moment of remembrance, we invite all who knew and loved John to join us in honoring a wonderful man whose spirit will forever inspire and resonate in our hearts
