It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John W. Goodyear, who left this world peacefully on August 27, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on July 19, 1941, in Indianapolis, IN, to the late John M. and Mary E. Goodyear, John led a life filled with love, adventure, and deep connections.
John dedicated over 50 years to the electrical construction industry, honing his skills first in Indianapolis before bringing his talents to Cincinnati in 1983. His professional journey was marked by an unwavering commitment to excellence and a genuine passion for his craft. In addition to his work, he devoted more than 30 years to St.James Episcopal Church, where his spirit of service touched the lives of many.
John thrived in the beauty of nature and cherished activities that brought family and friends together. He was an avid hiker, biker, and model railroading enthusiast. John loved exploring the outdoors and participating in community events, especially volunteering with Hamilton County Parks, where he made lasting friendships and memories.
In a beautiful twist of fate, John found love again at a single parents' outing, where he met Nancy. Their bond quickly grew into a partnership filled with love and purpose. On August 10, 1991, they united their lives and families, creating a nurturing home. Together, they shared countless adventures, including family get togethers, walking, camping, hiking and bike rides. All of these defined the loving legacy John leaves behind.
John is survived by his devoted wife, Nancy Goodyear; daughter, Kristen "Kristi" (Mike) Kenney; son, Richard (Carol) Goodyear; bonus children, Kimberly and Brian Wissman; beloved brother, Charles "Chuck" (Merrietta) Goodyear; and cherished grandchildren, Allison (David) Vanneman, Emily and Michael Kenney, Meagan Cyrus, Katie Goodyear, Luke and Greg Wissman.
John is preceded in death by his parents, John M. and Mary (nee Landis) Goodyear.
