John R. Grafstrom

Age 78 of Saint Paul, Minnesota, passed away on May 3, 2025, surrounded by family.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Carol Sime; daughter, Brita Grafstrom; son, Peter Grafstrom (Laura); grandson, Anders Grafstrom; siblings, William Grafstrom (Patti), Carole Grafstrom (Patrick LeGloanec), Gayle Grafstrom-Corman (Michael), James Grafstrom (Linda), Trish Grafstrom; and many nieces and nephews.

After moving from Cloquet at the age of 13 he grew up to be active in politics, through which he built his first career and met his wife, Carol. They raised their two children in the Highland Park neighborhood of Saint Paul after he started a second career in accounting. He remained active in politics and volunteered with his church in many capacities. In retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his family and friends, fishing, writing, and playing with his grandson. In his work he knew the value of assets. In life he knew family, friends, and community were his true wealth.

Memorial service 10:30 AM Thursday, May 15 at Como Park Lutheran Church, 1376 W. Hoyt Ave., St. Paul.  Visitation from 9:30 - 10:30 AM.  A luncheon will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred.
