John Graner Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bert Flamm Mortuary - St. Anthony on Feb. 28, 2023.
John Graner passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 after a valiant fight with health problems.
He was born June 24, 1952 in Allentown, Pennsylvania to John Tilgman Graner and Angelina Theresa Zuanet. He was the second child, with an older and younger sister. He attended and graduated from Allentown Central Catholic High School. He participated in many activities, including the high school band and enjoyed performing in concerts. This was the beginning of his love of music, which he carried throughout his life.
John loved the outdoors, camping, fishing and hunting (with his camera). Perhaps it was this love that brought him to the mountains. He loved Jackson Hole, Wyoming and the Grand Tetons. He lived there for about 15 years and then moved to the other side of the mountain living in St. Anthony, Rexburg, Rigby and Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Among his talents were his love of cooking, which he used to run his own catering business, and was always trying out new recipes. He was so pleased to learn his grandson was attending culinary school. He will also be remembered for his love of photography, selling some of his work for publishing.
John was a religious man with a knowledge of God. He spent most of his life as an active member of the Catholic church. He joined the The Church of Jesus Christ, of Latter-Day Saints in his later years. He served in multiple callings including teaching Sunday School, working with the young men, ward clerk, family history and temple volunteer. He spent as much time as he could traveling to various temples and found joy connecting with his ancestors.
John is survived by his son, Nicholas (Nick) Graner, grandson, Spencer Graner, and sister Elissa Graner. He was preceded in death by his parents, John & Angie, and older sister, Linda.
John had a kind heart and quick whit. He touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed. His family and friends would like to thank the health professionals and care givers who provided services for him as well as to the many friends who have been so supportive. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at 11 a.m. at the Rexburg South Stake Center 5200 S 2041 W, Rexburg, ID 83440.
