Joseph Graner Obituary

Joseph Patrick Graner, 49, a lifelong resident of Mt. Lebanon, passed away peacefully on Nov. 13, 2025, after a valiant decade-long battle with cancer. Joe was born in Mt. Lebanon and attended St. Bernard Catholic School and Mt. Lebanon High School, where he excelled in academics, basketball, and track. His athletic achievements earned him a scholarship to The College of Wooster in Wooster, OH. After college, he became the co-owner and operator of a small business in Leetsdale. Joe had a deep zest for life and cherished his interests in basketball, traveling, fishing, reading, the beach, Irish history, 1960s Jamaican rocksteady, early hip hop, and above all, the Rolling Stones. A man known for his unwavering friendships, Joe will be remembered for the warmth, great humor, and pride he brought to his family and friends. Although he is gone, his spirit and memory will remain in their hearts forever. He was preceded in death by his loving father, Vincent Paul Graner Jr., who cherished the deep love and immense pride his son brought into his life. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph Paul and Annie Grealish, and Vincent Paul and Margaret Graner; aunt, Ann Grealish Coll; and uncles, Robert Colgate Coll and Lloyd Everett Long Jr. Joe is survived by his proud mother, Maureen Grealish Graner; his aunts, Barbara Long and Kathleen Volper (Larry); his sisters, Elizabeth Graner (Michael James), Mimi Gamble (Andrew), and Emily Graner; his little brother, John Robert Graner Sr. (Libby); his beloved nieces and nephews, Patrick Jotz; Alice, Grace, and Joe Gamble; Jake Graner; John Robert Jr., James, and Michael Graner; and many dear cousins. A Mass of Remembrance to celebrate Joe's life will be held at 10 a.m. Dec. 20, 2025, at St. Bernard Church (Saint Michael the Archangel Parish), 311 Washington Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15216.
