John Grant Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Campbell Funeral Home - Beverly on Oct. 1, 2025.
John F. Grant, 72, of Beverly, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, September 16th. Born in Salem in 1953, he was the son of the late John Grant (Gruntkosky) and Lillian (Phillips), and the devoted husband of Andrea (Grammas) Grant.
John spent over 40 years in the semiconductor equipment industry, growing alongside the company as it evolved from NOVA to Axcelis Technologies in Beverly. Known for his ingenuity and dedication, he played a vital role in pioneering new technologies and solving complex challenges that few could tackle. His global travels to customer sites, leadership in team development, and unwavering commitment earned him deep respect and lifelong friendships.
A passionate boater, John was a cherished member of the Jubilee and Danversport Yacht Club communities. He created countless memories on the water, especially around Misery Island, and was always ready with a story, a joke, or a cheer for his favorite teams-the Patriots and the Red Sox.
John embraced family travel, meeting new people and exploring new places. He had a particular fascination with aviation, often finding the flight itself to be the highlight of the journey thanks to his keen understanding of aircraft operations.
Outside of work and travel, John found joy in the simple pleasures of life-spending time with loved ones, watching the game, and playing tug-of-war with his golden retriever, Finse.
John is survived by his wife, Andrea; his son, Garrett, and daughter-in-law, Jillian; and his beloved grandson, Waylon, with another grandchild on the way. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Katherine, and his cousin, Jack Lavorgna, both of whom are lovingly remembered.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to honor John's memory. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to a charity of one's choice. Arrangements by the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly. Information, directions, condolences at www.campbellfuneral.com
