Dr. John Lawrence Green, 77, passed away on Friday, September 12, 2025 at the Warner Hospice Center in Fernandina Beach, FL.
John was born on December 29, 1947 in Akron, Ohio to his parents, the late Doris Johnson Green and Lawrence Elton Green.
He leaves behind his wife, Melanie Anne Beasley; daughter, Alicia (Chris) Henderson and their children, Aidan, Lexi and Johnny; stepdaughter, Megan Beasley Norris and her twin daughters, Butler Anne Norris and Amelia Elizabeth Norris; his two sisters, Judy Green Dickinson and Barbara Green.
John married the love of his life, Melanie Anne Beasley on June 17, 2006. They had 19 fabulous years of marriage. The timing of their meeting and dating was perfect for both of them. It was a marriage made in heaven. He and Melanie resided in Fernandina Beach for almost 3 years.
He graduated from the Ohio State University and was an AVID Buckeye fan. His degree was in Veterinarian medicine. He was 5th in his class. He practiced at Atlantic East Animal Clinic and was the owner. He retired after 50 years of doctoring thousands of animals in the Jacksonville Beaches area. He truly loved what he did and took pride in his work. His clients were wonderful and very loyal.
John had quite a reputation as a Racquetball player. He played until his late 50's. Golf was also a passion. He was a member at Sawgrass, Selva Marina and Atlantic Beach Country Club. He started playing golf as a young teenager and was known for his amazing putting ability.
John was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia and Parkinson's when he was 72. He was extremely brave and never complained. He was a brilliant man and it was devastating to see him be such a warrior knowing that Lewy Body Dementia would end his life. He fought with such dignity, like he did with everything in life. To know John was to love him. All will remember him for his never-ending kindness and quick wit. John will be truly missed by so many friends, clients and family.
May he Rest In Peace.
Donations may be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association at www.LBDA or LBDA, 912 Killian Hill Rd. SW, Lilburn, GA 30047 or to the Jacksonville Humane Society.
