John Greenwald

John Greenwald, 82, died on June 28 at Stonebridge in Montgomery, NJ.
John is survived by Martha, his wife of 53 years, his son William, his daughter-in-law Jennifer, his brother David, his sister Alice and nephews Adam, Benjamin and Zak.
John was a loving partner and best friend to his wife. He was a devoted father to his son William, who along with William's wife Jennifer, shone as bright lights in John's life. John and Martha met at the Minneapolis Star in Minneapolis, MN where John became the Business Editor and Martha the Consumer Affairs reporter. John went on to become a Senior Writer at Time Magazine in New York specializing in business journalism and where he wrote more than two dozen cover stories. He later was an editor at NJ BIZ, a weekly New Jersey business publication. His favorite job was his last one as Science Editor at the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL) from where he retired in 2023. His talents as a journalist stemmed from both his strong mastery of the English language and his ability to explain complicated concepts in simple terms. These strengths served him well whether he was writing about economics, nuclear fusion or any of a host of other topics. John was a native of Los Angeles where he still has several high school friends. John had Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Journalism from the University of California, Berkeley, CA, as well as a Master's Degree in Public Administration from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, Boston, MA. John was a tall, soft-spoken intellect who always will have a place in our hearts. His family finds solace in these words: "People die. Love doesn't".
