John Lawrence Gridler II, 59, of Star, Idaho, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2025. He was born on March 31, 1966, in Lancaster, California, to John Lawrence Gridler and Patricia Ann Hawkins Gridler.

John grew up in Lancaster and attended Joshua Elementary School, Antelope Valley High School, and later ICCU College in Nampa, Idaho. Throughout his life, John called Lancaster and Palmdale, California, and Star, Idaho, home.

He worked for Palmdale Glass Co., the A.V. Fairgrounds, and later became self-employed, offering handyman services. John had a passion for restoring antique cars and go-carts, and he spent countless hours working on vehicles. His interests also included history and animal care.

John was an active member of Holy Apostles Catholic Church and volunteered with the local food bank. He enjoyed giving his time and talents to serve others in his community.

He is survived by his parents, John and Patricia Gridler; his two sisters, Audrey Pauline D’Orazio and Kimberly Ann Zimmerman; brother in law, Keith Zimmerman; niece Lauren D’Orazio; nephews Antonio D’Ozario, Mario D’Ozario, Charlie Zimmerman and Zachary Zimmerman. John never married but deeply cherished his family, especially his nieces and nephews, and loved when they visited. He took great pride in sharing his hobbies with them.

John was preceded in death by his grandparents, John A. Gridler, Pauline Gridler McManus, William McManus Sr., Lawrence and Ethel Hawkins, and his uncle Richard Gridler, who was also his godfather.

A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 811 South Latah Street, Boise, ID, officiated by Father Hippolytus Ezenwa.

Interment will follow at Dry Creek Cemetery, 9600 Hill Road, Boise, ID, with graveside services at 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s’s Hospital or the animal shelter of your choice.

John will be remembered for his generous heart, strong work ethic, and love for family, faith, and community.
