John Francis Guilfoyle, a dedicated and honorable man, passed away on June 17, 2024 in Calverton, NY. He was born on October 2, 1940, in Queens, NY. John led a remarkable life filled with service to his community and loved ones.

In his professional journey, John served as a FDNY Firefighter for 20 years, demonstrating his bravery and commitment to protecting others. Following his tenure with the fire department, he transitioned into the role of Plant Director at St. Francis Prep High School for an impressive 54 years. His long-standing dedication to the school touched the lives of many students and faculty members.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, John was known for his loving and caring nature as a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He cherished his family above all else and leaves behind a legacy of warmth and affection.John's military service further exemplified his selflessness and patriotism. He proudly served in the United States Navy, United States Air National Guard, and United States Coast Guard, showing unwavering dedication to his country. 

Among those who preceded John in death are his son John M. Guilfoyle, father Bernard Guilfoyle and mother Mary Guilfoyle. He is survived by his beloved wife Kathryn Guilfoyle; son Kevin J. Guilfoyle and his wife Treasa ; daughter Christine M. Guilfoyle and her husband Barry Behm; as well as grandchildren Brittany DiFranco and her husband Nick, Megan Tichenor, Sarah Tichenor; and great-grandchildren Nicky, Natey, and McKenzie. 

A visitation to honor John's life will take place at Tuthill-Mangano Funeral Home in Riverhead on June 20, 2024. Visiting will be 1:00PM - 3:00PM and 6:00PM - 8:00PM, with a  Prayer Service starting at 7:00PM. John Francis Guilfoyle will be fondly remembered for his kindness, bravery, and unwavering love for his family. May he rest in peace knowing that he made a positive impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
