John David Hancock, “JD” passed away on August 22nd at his home in Allen, TX.
JD was born May 26, 1985 in Rapid City, South Dakota and was raised in Altus, Oklahoma. He was a sweet boy, kind and loving in his youth but in his teens and into early adulthood, it became evident JD was an addict. He tried numerous times over 20 years to beat addiction. Though substance use disorder brought great suffering into his life, JD never lost his faith in Jesus Christ and his family rejoices in the Truth and hope provided through the Gospel that this isn’t the end.
JD was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents John W. Hancock Sr. and Fannie Belle (Allen) Hancock. Survivors include his father, John W. Hancock Jr., mother, Curlene Phipps, step-father, Curt Phipps, siblings, Christine Hancock, Jennifer Phipps, and Joshua Phipps, grandparents, Mack and Mitzi Hall, Uncle, David Hall, several extended relatives and numerous friends from the Allen, TX and Altus, OK areas.
A memorial service will be held at Rock Creek Road Baptist Church in Mineral Wells on September 21st at 11AM. Private burial to follow.
