John Patrick Hannan Sr. passed away on January 9, 2023, after a brief illness.
John was born August 12, 1939, in Paterson, New Jersey, into a gregarious Irish Catholic family as the youngest of Esther and James Hannan's six children.
On April 22, 1967, John married the love of his life, Marianne (Jordan). Marianne and John raised their family in Basking Ridge, N.J. Along with his wife Marianne, John is survived by their three children John Patrick Jr., Kevin and Eileen (Ferrell). John is also survived by his beloved grandchildren Kaitlyn Hannan, John Patrick Hannan III, Jordan Hannan, Brady Hannan and Lewis Ferrell.
John is predeceased by their daughter Maribeth, his parents Esther and James, his brothers James, Joseph and William, and his sisters Rita (Finamore) and Mary (Mae)(Regan).
John served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in January 1968.
Prior to retiring to North Carolina, John enjoyed a rewarding career in the financial markets of New York City and Philadelphia, focusing on commercial insurance brokerage, commercial real estate brokerage and mortgage financing.
John was a communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Church in Cary, N.C.
Nothing made John happier than family vacations on Hilton Head Island and the special occasions that brought the entire family together for lots of love and laughter.
