A lifelong Little Falls resident, John T. Harrington, Jr., 65, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, February 21, 2024 at his home, following a long hard battle with lung carcinoma.  He had his loved ones at his side.

John was born Feb. 18, 1959 in Ilion, son of the late John and Margaret Harrington.  He was united in marriage to his wife, the former Gayle Ackley (a native of Dolgeville).  His last employment was with Empire Fiberglass, retiring in 2021 after over 20 years of dedicated service.  

Survivors include his beloved family; his wife, Gayle at home, his children, Stefanie Holleran and husband Eric, Racheal Harrington, John Harrington, III and wife Amanda, Royce Lanphere, Scott Lanphere, Samantha Martin and Michael Lanphere, siblings, Allen, Kim, Wayne, Richard, Sheila, and Kenneth, seventeen grandchildren with one on the way, three great grandchildren with two on the way, step son, Brian Dennis, many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his father and mother, his granddaughter, Sabrina Harrington, his brother, Dale Christopher, nephew, Dennis Terzi, nephew, Ryan Harrington, nephew Baby Kenny, his mother-in-law, June Ackley, nephew Chris Noonan and sister-in-law, Roberta Harrington.  

John was an amazing person.  He would help anyone in need and had a heart of Gold that he took with him.  He enjoyed being with his family and loved all of his children and grandchildren equally.  You would often find him telling stories about his life adventures.   His smile and contagious laughter will be deeply missed by many.

A visitation will take place on Sunday, February 25, 2024 from 12-1 pm at the locally/family owned and operated Mohawk Valley Funerals and Cremations, 7507 State Route 5, between Little Falls and St. Johnsville, 315-508-5131.  A brief service will take place at the conclusion of visitation at 1 pm, in MVFC, where family and friends will share memories.   Interment will be private.
