Chick passed away peacefully at the ripe old age of 95 on May 2, 2025. He is joyfully reunited in Heaven with Pat, his beloved wife of 61 years. Chick was also pre-deceased by his parents Henry and Julia; brothers Rev. Ed, Juno, and Charlie (late Mary); sisters Jean Rouse (late Bill) and Lori (late Fred) Steltenpohl; daughter-in-law Renea; and two grandchildren, David and Beth.
Chick is survived by his children: Denny, Trish (Dick) Meyer, Jackie (Greg) Wyatt and Pam; 11 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. His love and guidance, mixed with a healthy dose of stubbornness, will be with us in our memories forever.
Chick also leaves behind his brother Pete (late Ruth); his sisters Ruth Link (late Jim), Caryl (Bruce) Woycke and Joy (late Bill ) Gavin; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Chick was so proud of the home he and Pat built 70 years ago. Over the years while still at home, his neighbors honked at him as he sat on his tractor cutting the grass while smoking a stogie. In later years, this evolved into neighbors honking while he sat on the back porch next to his walker, but still smoking a stogie. He would laugh and say, "Hi, whoever you are!" after every honk. He loved telling stories (we heard the same ones a bazillion times) about the rabble-rousing he and his friends did while growing up in Reading, Ohio, the fun music he and Mom danced to as young adults, his interesting jobs over the years, and many others. He was the owner of Ideas & Ad Ventures for 17 years.
Dad deeply missed Mom and the many friends and family members who passed before him. He did not shy away from saying that he wanted to be with them. We feel blessed that we had so many wonderful years with him.
Chick was a proud U.S. Army Corporal who served his country in the Korean War. He was a member of American Legion Posts #69 and #530. He was a long-time parishioner of St. John the Baptist Church on Dry Ridge Road.
Visitation will be held at St. John the Baptist Church 5361 Dry Ridge Rd., Cincinnati (45252) on Friday, May 9, 2025 from 9:30 AM until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. Burial will follow at St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Cincinnati.
Light up a stogie and raise your mug of beer to the Heavens and send Dad off with a toast!
