John P. Hauber, 82, of Kieler, Wisconsin, formerly of Dickeyville, Wisconsin, passed away Sunday, February 1, 2026. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 9, 2026, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Dickeyville, Wisconsin, with Rev. Bernard Rott and Rev. Tom Kelley officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2-7:00 p.m. Sunday, February 8 at Casey-McNett Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Cuba City, Wisconsin, and from 9-10:45 a.m. Monday at the church prior to the service.

John was born on August 9, 1943, in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Andrew and Henrietta (Kuepers) Hauber. He graduated from Wahlert High School in 1961. John was united in marriage to Ruth Witterholt on September 16, 1967 at Holy Ghost Church in Dubuque, Iowa.

John, known to many as “Buck”, “MoPepsi” and “J-Bo”, began working at Hauber’s Processing after high school. Together, he and his brother, Mick, purchased Hauber’s in 1986 and were owners until 2014, when they sold the business to their nephew, Bongo Brand. John was a member of the National Guard, the Dickeyville Fire Department and a faithful member of Holy Ghost Church. He was an avid bowler. His accomplishments included winning the Kiwanis Tournament in 1976, bowling many 700 series including a perfect game, attending the National Bowling Tournament for 49 years, and being inducted into the Platteville Bowling Association Hall of Fame. John enjoyed playing baseball, fast pitch softball, golfing, and playing cards.

Above all, John cherished time with his family. He and Ruth loved traveling to Branson, tournaments and casinos. John taught his daughter, Rhonda, how to pitch semi-fast softball, how to play cribbage and he attended all of her shows and recitals. He coached his son, Buck, in baseball and was proud of the team’s success and friendships formed with the kids. John also encouraged Buck’s participation in bowling and taught him to play euchre. He never missed an opportunity to attend activities for his grandchildren, whom he loved dearly. John will be fondly remembered as a gentle, humble, jovial and consistently kind individual.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Hauber, Kieler, WI; two children, Rhonda (Jen Briggs) Lucas, Moline, IL, and Buck (Jobie) Hauber, Galena, IL; seven grandchildren, Ella Lucas, Coltrane Lucas, Kaden Hauber, Rhen Hauber, Nevaeh Hauber, Rallie Hauber and Malaya Hauber; three siblings, Mary Brand, Kieler, WI, Tom Hauber, Richland Center, WI, and Dave “Mick” Hauber, Dickeyville, WI; a brother-in-law, Tom (Judy) Witterholt; and a special nephew, Bob “Bongo” (Tammy) Brand.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his parents-in-law, Adam and Margaret Witterholt; a brother-in-law, Jim Brand; two sisters-in law, Maryanne (George) Zugenbuehler and Rita (Bob) Sodawasser; two nephews, Adam Witterholt, in infancy, and Tom Witterholt; and his best friend, Carl “Butch” Pickel.
