John Paul Heck, Jr.

LANCASTER – John Paul Heck, Jr., 90 of Lancaster, formerly of Hellam, PA passed away, Monday, January 19, 2026, at Lancaster General Hospital, Lancaster, PA. He was the husband of the late Mitzi Jo (Shelton) Heck, whom he shared over 50 years of marriage and who passed away April 1, 2007.

John was born in 1935 in Chambersburg, PA and was the son of the late John Paul Heck, Sr. and Margaret (Kriner) Heck.

He graduated in 1954 from Chambersburg Area Senior High School in Chambersburg, PA. He retired after 38 years from Standard Register in York. John was a lover and devoted companion of his many dogs. He loved fishing and enjoyed many trips to Rehoboth Beach, DE. He was an active member of Starview United Church of Christ in (Starview) Mount Wolf, PA giving much of his life to the care of the church both inside and outside. John proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in June 1966.

John is survived by his sister, Margaret Rice of Maryland and his brother, David Frank Heck and his wife Debra K. of Lititz, PA. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Larry Heck, and Terry Heck and his sister, Polly Oyler.

His funeral service will begin at 10:00 AM, Friday, January 23, 2026, at Starview United Church of Christ, 4832 North Sherman Street, Mount Wolf, Pa. His viewing will be from 9:00 to 10:00 AM Friday at the church. His burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Officiating at his service will be his pastor Reverend Laura Baker. York County Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors at the graveside.
