It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John David Hedge, 82, on December 9, 2025. John was born on December 17, 1942 in Knox County the son of James Lester and Phoebe Mildred (Spencer) Hedge. He married Sharon "Sherry" Williams on November 4, 1964.
John was a proud graduate of Wheatland High School and served our country with honor in the United States Air Force. His love for his community was evident in everything he did, from his active involvement at Wabash Community Church to being a valued member of the American Legion. John had a passion for life that was infectious-whether he was enjoying a good game of cards (Blitz was definitely his favorite!) or crafting stunning wooden patriotic statues that proudly displayed his love for our country. He also spent time building homes with his family, always finding joy in the work they did together.
Survivors include his wife, Sherry Hedge of Vincennes; sons, Chris Hedge and his wife Marlene of Davenport, FL. Mark "Fred" Hedge and his wife Susan of Vincennes; his grandchildren, Alyssa Hedge, Josh Hedge, Jasmine Burns; seven great grandchildren; as well as his sister, Karen Cardinal. John is preceded in death by his parents, James and Phoebe Hedge, son, James David Hedge, grandson, Skyler Hedge, brothers, Jimmy, Charles, Bobby, Donald, Billy Hedge and his sister, Ruby Jones.
Friends may visit with John's family from 11:00 am until the hour of service time of 1:00 pm on Monday, December 15, 2025 at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 524 Broadway, Vincennes, IN 47591. Pastors Dale Biehl and Dan Bobbitt will officiate and John will be laid to rest in Memorial Park Cemetery. Online memories may be shared with John's family and friends at www.goodwinsieversfh.com.
